Who puts Splashdance together?

We do.

We love this weekend, we love making it happen, and we love working with each other.

Prime Mover: Lindsay Morris

Lindsay gathers the team, runs meetings, does the budget and the website, and makes sure all the bases are covered.

And never forgets the point of the whole thing: bringing good people together for a weekend of community pleasure.

Registration: AnneMarie Walter

AnneMarie receives your registration forms and types them in; watches over our registration database, reminds you to send money if you haven't ... just generally takes care of you until you arrive at camp. Also offers very good ideas about setting up online registration.

Musical Director: Laura Light

Laura knows all the musicians in seventeen states, and is such a pleasure to work with that most of them come here when she invites them. She also hosts and coaches the Asheville Open Band.

Waltz Queen: Suzanne Hosch

Suzanne pulls together and schedules the fine crew of musicians for our delicious early morning and pre-dance waltzes. Splashdance is a larger and lovelier thing because of her.

If you want to play for these waltzes, contact Suzanne: she puts together a book of tunes for you.

Caller Coordinator / Volunteer Coordinator: Diane Silver

Callers: Diane organizes all of you who want to call a dance for us: setting up the schedule, making sure three people don't pick the same dance, offering advice - and maybe even calling a dance or two herself, who knows...

Volunteers: we'll have a different process than last year's SignupGenius thing - details aren't clear yet - but Diane will make that go smoother than last year.

Workshop Schedule, and Cabin Assignments: Beth Harvey

Beth recruits people to run Yoga, Singing, Kids' Events, Waterfront Follies, and other events, and prints out a schedule so you can do the Right Thing for you. For Cabins, she actually reads and considers your comments and requests on the registration form, and gives you a better cabin than you would have picked yourself.

Fun: Charley Harvey

Charley instigated last year's Air Mattress Derby, the hit of the weekend. We don't know what he's going to do this year. We're comfortable with that.

Photo Booth (and Founding Father): John Combs

John and Susan Kokora got married a few years ago several years ago long, long ago, and their annual anniversary party turned into Renewal, then Reunion, now Splashdance. Now he just does the photo booth. Everybody still loves him.

Of counsel: Catherine Bradley

Catherine’s first volunteer job, at that first Wedding/Renewal celebration, was pouring champagne and serving cake. She would not refuse the opportunity to work that job again! She's a great sounding board and idea generator at meetings, and a lot of fun to dance with too.

Sound counsel and general wisdom: Robert Zieber

Robert parked cars for two years. Thank you, Robert! This year he's running sound in the smaller hall and being generally helpful at meetings.

Facilities Setup: John Baumann

John manages the volunteers on Friday for setting up the gym Dance Hall, the snack area, the registration booth, and anything else we can think of to make the space nicer.

Chef: Harriette Bugel

Harriette and her team cook 5 meals and 2 snack-breaks for you, all for the low, low price of $35. She can take care of vegans, gluten-free diets, and most other specialties. Would you rather cook? Or swim / dance / play?

Sound: Weogo Reed

Weogo is our enormously competent Sound Engineer. He does the sound for Asheville's Thursday night dance, for many dance weekends, and other community events. You might want to talk to him about your event.

Youth Activities: Leah Hyde

Leah works with your children while you dance: reads to them, lets them make banners for the kids' parade, and generally helps them play nice. It's a real nice scene in the kids' room with Leah. Come dance and don't worry about them for a while.
